The arc
Different fields, same job.
I started in a lab. My PhD at the University of Regina was about finding meaningful differences buried inside messy data—and in 2012 that research became an industry partnership with GasBuddy, predicting tomorrow’s gas prices.
I stayed for more than a decade and four roles. I built the first cloud data warehouse and BI platform, then the data science practice, then led the engineering organization behind the consumer app: 32 engineers across four countries, eleven million people a month, and a Snowflake platform that turned first-party fuel and transaction data into a licensed enterprise product.
Today I direct cloud infrastructure at ISC across Canada and Ireland. The work is governance, reliability, cost discipline and audit—and a service organization resolving work in roughly a quarter of the time it did a year ago.
Research, data, engineering, infrastructure. The through-line is the same: make the function measurable, then make it strategic.
Résumé (PDF)How I think
Positions shaped by the work.
Most AI programs fail at the decision, not the model.
I’ve built highly accurate models that changed nothing and simple ones that changed how a business planned its week. The hard part is finding the decision waiting on an answer.
Cloud cost is an operating problem wearing a technical costume.
Engineering can cut spend quickly. Keeping it down takes visible choices, clear ownership, and people trusted to make the call.
Controls are a delivery feature, not a tax.
The same chain from policy to implementation that satisfies an auditor lets a team ship without asking permission. Governance done early is speed.
What happens when I have no budget and no team
EventPulse
After twenty years in Regina I was still finding out about things the week after they happened. So I built EventPulse—a free discovery platform bringing events from more than a hundred local sources into one place.
It is the same career pattern without an organization behind it: find the real need, make sense of messy information, and build something people can use. The ingestion, AI pipeline, deduplication, infrastructure, and daily operations are all mine.

What I’m open to
Focused here. Open to contributing.
I’m at ISC and focused there. Alongside it, I’m pursuing governance education through the Institute of Corporate Directors, with an interest in board and committee work—particularly where technology risk, cloud spend, or data governance sit on the agenda. I also make time for selective advisory conversations.
